What Is Ex-Demo? 

Quite simply, it is rare pieces that have been worn by the creators of URWERK and the team during the watch expo's/launch events around the world to present to our collectors, retailers and the international media. Some have even been the watch you see in our adverts or on our website and social channels. For the first time, like in the car industry, we make these pieces available to our customers. These are backed by a brand new warranty of two years – extendable to four if registered on our member's lodge. They may carry signs of wear, or as we like to call them, battle scars;) but the watches have been tested and are in perfect working order, and come with a brand new strap. 

UR-100 2N GOLD EDITION "C-3PO"

Like all URWERK's before it, science fiction has heavily influenced this limited edition of just 25 pieces. Our chief designer and co-founder, Martin Frei's father, actually worked on the Apollo Lunar Rover for NASA. This achievement left an indelible mark, which is easy to see across his designs.

The UR-100 gets its pale colouring from the 2N gold alloy, the same pale shine as the Star Wars droid it takes its moniker from. Machined from one solid block and satin-finished, the shape takes clues from Han Solo's Millennium Falcon, a slim design – extra-flat for a satellite-geared watch – with angular contours; it's an elongated octagon with three notched sides. On top of this spaceship for the wrist is a sapphire crystal bubble reminiscent of the shape of the first URWERK models, the dome housing the control centre of this intergalactic visitor.

The UR-100's rotating satellite display takes centre stage, the hours and minute revolutions create a miniature cosmic silent ballet. The hour satellites also display minutes as they traverse 120 degrees across the bright green scale. A bold red arrowhead marks the confluence of hours and minutes, offering a unique, highly legible, and intuitive time display.

The automatic winding system, even when evading the imperial forces, is never overloaded, thanks to the Windfänger's regulation of the oscillating mass: this planetary gear limits the rotor's rotation speed, minimising the rotation both excessive winding and wear and maximising reliability and lifespan.

The UR-100 doesn't just time the time in hours and minutes; using our Jedi powers, it also discreetly indicates Spacetime on each side of the top of the dome's periphery, which are both essential for intergalactic voyages and unique on planet earth. After each of the three red-minute arrowheads passes the numeral 60, they disappear and reappear on two separate kilometres. The first display at 9 o'clock marks the 555 km travelled along the equator during 20 minutes of the earth's rotation; the second display at 3 o'clock indicates the distance – 35,740 kilometres – crossed by the earth as it orbits around the sun over 20 minutes. Spacetime never looked so good; Einstein would be proud!
